As of this morning. I have about a handful of stations, out of 800+, that have guide data.
I'm honestly lost on this. It all was working just a week ago.

Hello,

I am having two problems:
1. My Guide is not updating.
2. Cover art is not being displayed for some of my movies.

I am running Microsoft Security Essentials.

Thanks for any help you can give!

Problem 1: My Guide is not updating.

Problem 2: Cover art is not being displayed for some of my movies.

I get a message when opening my Movies in WMC at times: "Some of the movie data may not be available because either Windows Media Center cannot connect to the internet or the Automatic Download option to retrieve movie data is not enabled."

My internet is connected and working.

You may have a corrupt file in the cache. Open the configuration GUI, click the [Clear Cache] button, and then [Save & Execute]. See if that successfully completes.

For the movie data message, this is another nag from MS but it should only be a 1 time thing. Basically, they finally shut down their server that supplied the extended data (similar movies, reviews, extended synopsis).

Clearing the cache fixed the guide problem and it is now up to date. Thank you!

Should I clear the cache at a certain interval for maintenance?

I am still missing cover art that I used to have in my movie collection. Probably 2/3 of what used to be there is missing. Do you have any suggestions for making that work?

When we deleted the old database, the artwork for your movies went with it. Also, because MS finally shutdown the Rovi/AMG service that would supply extended information for movies to include coverart, that isn't happening anymore.

You can look into RecordedTVHD (viewtopic.php?p=138165#p138165). I believe it will provide a nice replacement to the Movie Guide.

For some reason, my guide has not been updating after this. I thought, may be the force parameter is causing an issue and I removed it a couple of days ago. Yet, my guide listings are not being updated. It is stuck with the last date being Feb 13th.

I only have 1 machine, which is my main machine. So, it should probably be server mode. This is what I have

In Program Script, it says
C:\Program

In Add Arguments, it says
Files (x86)\epg123\epg123Client.exe -i "C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf" -match

In Start in, it says
C:\Program Files (x86)\epg123

Are these the correct values. When I looked at the other task of epg123.exe, I thought this client task may not be right. So, I tried changing the Program script to
C:\Program Files (x86)\epg123\epg123Client.exe

and set the argument to
-i "C:\ProgramData\GaRyan2\epg123\output\epg123.mxf" -match

But as soon as I click okay, it is replacing to what it is mentioned above. Should I add the double quotes in the Program/Script box to retain the full path to the executable?

I don't know what your Task Scheduler is doing to you there. I would delete and re-create the task from the configuration GUI or the client GUI. Don't edit anything and see if it runs properly.

I edited the paramters to include the full path to the program in quotes. I think it was being thrown off by the space in the folder name of Program Files. This is how my log looks now. Do you think this is everything or am I still missing something. If I am still missing something, I will go back and delete and re-create the task as you suggested.

I don't know what your Task Scheduler is doing to you there. I would delete and re-create the task from the configuration GUI or the client GUI. Don't edit anything and see if it runs properly.

There are a few other posts on this forum that teased of bringing to the community some software that would provide us a tool that would give us what we had grown to expect from Zap2it. I simply got tired of waiting, so I produced my own. May I present to you EPG123.

So now that the big switch is pretty much done, how many EPG123 users do you think there are? This must represent the majority of active Media Center users. Also, did Microsoft ever reach out to you?

Hello,

can I pls have a word of advice on this:

When I look at the EPG program I see the program returned an Exit-error when getting the program data: Exit : 0x800710E0

I gave this error code a try to find on the net but can't find any post related to this.

Now, the log file : I think it's all ok, all is succesful but it also gives this error (see logdetails below).

When I open the W10-taskmanager I do see a lot of errors for the update task but as said, the log file from EPG123 shows almost perfect.

Any clue where I have to look to solve this?

Your scheduled task is not running, probably due to a permission problem. The log you show is only of you opening the configuration GUI... is there more?

I'm glad to see that the cache will finally be a single file. That should substantially improve the disk thrashing. Are there any instructions or concerns about upgrading? What happens to the tens of thousands of old cache files on an upgraded system and what do you suggest as memory requirements in order to see any performance gain?

When I ran the new version for the first time, it seemed to read the old (multi-file) cache data and work as normal. Then after it wrote the MFX file, it "cleaned the cache" which resulted in all the small cache files being deleted and the one large cache file replacing it. This run seemed to run at the old speed, but subsequent runs used the new cache file and were very fast and hard drive friendly.

I really am very happy with how fast it is now compared to the old version, it is like night and day for me.

As for memory usage, it does apparently use some more memory than before, see here. Looks like about a 20% increase in memory usage at least for the given example.
