Depends on what you are running now. There are changes to the SD access requirements that IIRC require you to be on 1.7.1.8 or later. Otherwise, check the release notes and decide if the changes are something you want or need.

According to the Log, I was on 1.7.1.7. Upgraded to 1.7.3.0, and the Save and Execute worked correctly, no errors, and the guide logos are as they were before. Fingers crossed.
Thank you very much stuartm.

Gary, do you (or anyone else reading this) know if updating the .NET Framework and installing TLS 1.2 on a 7MC system will mess with the ability to play copy-protected programs? I'm guessing not, but as the pain and aggravation of losing copy-protected recordings is so great (WAF immediately drops deeply into negative territory), I'd rather not run the risk. EPG123 has been showing a red X for several weeks but the guide updates seem to keep coming in just fine on our machine.garyan2 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 13, 2022 12:10 amIf you updated your .NET framework, I don't see why it would have a problem connecting with SSL/TLS 1.2. I would not "install" the portable version unless you have a specific reason/scenario to do so. Try installing EPG123 with the install package and see if that corrects the issue.

Updating .NET will not affect your DRM playback/recording.

Gary, could you please give me some advice on how to update my system. I'm running the super old v1.3.3 and it has finally given up on updating my guide because it can't seem to connect to Schedules Direct for a token request any more. It last allowed an guide download on Dec 15. I see from another post that this error means I have to update. However, I can't for the life of me figure out how to do so. When I click on the link for the epg123Setup_v1.7.3.0.zip it sends a file to my downloads. I tried using extract all to send it to my epg123 folder but when I go there and click on the epg123setup_v1.7.3.0.exe file nothing happens. I feel like I need the "tell me like I'm 5" version to get things squared away.

Try not extracting the file and just double-click it within the zip file. I'm not sure why it won't execute within your current epg123 folder, but you really don't need it there anyway.

If you double click on the downloaded zip file, you should then just be able to double click on the "epg123setup_v1.7.3.0.exe" file that it contains to start the install.
Extracting that file to the install folder was the exact wrong thing to do
Although you can, if the above doesn't work, "extract all" that file to another temporary location (NOT the install folder for EPG123) and then double clock on it there to execute it.
Note that this all assumes that you installed your initial version of EPG123 in the first place and did not use the portable version. If that is the case then you may have to do some additional steps.
As far as any issues with upgrading from v1.3.3 to the latest version, I'd have to leave that to Gary, as I am not sure if the installer is able to upgrade from all older version gracefully.

I tried double clicking first from the downloads folder and nothing happens. I even tried doing it on a separate windows 7 computer with media center that I had never put epg123 on and it doesn't want to do anything when I double click there on that machine either. I also tried right clicking on the exe file and selecting Open and that also leads to nothing happening.

Sounds like you may have an anti-virus blocking the program from running.

There definitely could have been a conflict with an anti-virus as I have had trouble just downloading things in the past on the computer in question. I think I may have skirted the problem by putting the file on a flash drive (which allowed the tv icon to appear at the start of the file) from a much newer computer and the file actually finally open when I double clicked. I reset the scheduled task to download the guide overnight and I'm hoping to find a fresh listing in the morning! Thanks to you both for your assistance!

Hi Gary, I just dropped you a donation for your sterling work keeping WMC running. Hoping you can help with this query. I rebuilt my WMC to windows 10 back in 2019 and it has been working like a dream ever since. That is until the change to SD API stopped working and I was getting a red icon. Having a read through this forum, it seems like a straight upgrade to the latest EPG123 was the answer. I just did a straight install but that didn't work for me and I had to do a complete clean start and rebuild using your new WMC installer. That seemed to go OK (apart from losing my scheduled recordings) but I have 2 remaining problems: 1 the EPG123 icon has disappeared from the home screen (after installation it was there and green with the correct date), that I can live with however 2: I am getting the search problem saying results are incomplete because guide list indexing is not complete. That is a nuisance. Its been like that for a couple of days now. All the schedules seem to be updating and its recording new programs fine. The trace log doesn't look to have any errors either including reindex scheduled tasks completing successfully. Any ideas? TIA

Where is the best place to get "How to update" guide? Sorry for simple question, thank you for pointing me in the correct direction. I currently have v1.3.0 I am always afraid that I'll do something dumb and break my good ol' W7 MC

1. Not sure of everything you did, but it sounds like you uninstalled your old WMC and then installed my WMC msi version. When you uninstall the old WMC (8.8.x), it also removes all the registry setting which included the pointer to the epg123 icon on the home screen. Next guide update by epg123 should restore that. Another possibility is the icon doesn't show if you are moving your mouse....dylanoil wrote: ↑Tue Dec 20, 2022 10:35 pmHi Gary, I just dropped you a donation for your sterling work keeping WMC running. 2. You windows search is not working for WMC. Open Control Panel, select Indexing Options, click [Advanced] and then click [Rebuild].

Just download and run the epg123Setup file from the website. If you did not use the setup file in the past to install 1.3.0, then make sure the installer is pointing to the current location of your epg123.

Thanks, Gary. I did the rebuild which took a while but now I'm getting search results again. The icon seems to have come back too. One last question, when I reinstalled your msi I got an error trying to install playready. Otherwise all seems to be working fine. Is that something I should be concerned about. The main use of my MC is Freeview DVB-T2. Thanks Ian.garyan2 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 21, 2022 5:29 am1. You don't need to worry about PlayReady if you don't need it. The Microsoft servers to install PlayReady are gone so everyone gets that error. If you need PlayReady, then you will need to install it manually.

I had a similar MXF error as below on our secondary 7MC computer. (It was up to 336 hours old, and we had program data only up to the evening of December 30.)
I can confirm that the suggestion that @garyan2 gives does work. Thank you!
