Future of cable with FCC and change of regulatory climate
without getting into a political discussion, I was just wondering what others think will happen with with the pending change in the FCC and regulatory climate.
will things move back to more cable company control?
or are the corporate forces outside the cable industry strong enough to keep the door somewhat open?

Given all the consolidation in many dimensions (AT&T -> DirecTV, Charter -> TimeWarner, distributors owning content generation) and the slow, consistent death of land-line telephone I cannot imagine how CableCo will not be viewed as an essential communication monopoly and must eventually be regulated as a utility. Now whether that happens in the next 4 years, or the next 20 is the bigger question.

It's like buying a car. The customer owns the biggest tool at the table: the ability to walk away from the deal.
Cable companies might think their world is going back to business as usual, but they're wrong. And there's not a thing any sitting president or Congress can do to force the population into the cableco world.

Also this not to get into much of a political discussion this is one of the things that I liked about Obama was his FCC choice, and one of the items that frustrates me about Trump.
