Looks like AT&T just released their online TV service (regardless of your current TV and/or Internet Service Provider) to the US and it seems to have all the usual channels (including regional sports). They appear to be limited to AppleTV, AmazonFire Stick, and Google Chrome browsers for now; but, I'm wondering if anyone has looked at this or know anything about it? Any possibility of recording channels from it/etc...

If it's anything like the AT&T Uverse service, they make older episodes available on-demand. I think they would prefer that over allowing downloads.

I could live with it, if it used a system like RSS... I would subscribe to the shows I'm interested in and it would offer a link to view and could be marked read. In a perfect world, it would be RSS and I could use any RSS viewer. I suspect they want to keep you tied to their ecosystem though.

Heck, if it used RSS I would consider dumping what I have now.. the streaming-only part doesn't bother me.

How about 5.1 audio? ...these "alternatives" that are popping up don't seem to provide 5.1 in their infancy.

The link mentions 5.1 is avail but only on certain devices. Only 2 streams, no dvr, and not all the major broadcast channels are show stoppers for now... but it's good to see the start of a new direction.
