If you have the ability to reinstall Windows 7- and then activate the Do Not Update discussed in other Windows 7 threads, that would eeasier than trying to get a Windows 8 ProPack key.

I am having a weird issue with a new WMC (msi version) install on the last release of Windows 10 (21H2) on an HP ProDesk 600 G1 Mini using a HDHomeRun tuner.
Everything went fine with the setup, finding the tuner, adding the channels etc. but when I go to watch 'Live TV' only some of the channels...

I haven't checked in quite a while, but you should be able to get drivers from Intel for Win10 off their website.
I also haven't had to worry about codecs in a long time, but my go-to was Shark007. It had options specifically for WMC, don't know if they are still there or not.

Something to try.
I found out that the DVD Player app installed with WMC has a feature that if you install any language packs after the app is installed, you need to uninstall it and then reinstall it. This may be related to your problem.

If there is already something like this, please delete. I didn't see one.
Should be useful, at least to me, to have one place to look to see if anyone has confirmed whether a given month's updates cause WMC/mce problems and potentially the steps someone used to recover from the problem(s)....

To play audio from tv/recorded tv (hdhomerun tuners), the system sound has to be to set to stereo otherwise the sound will play for a few seconds and repeat and stay locked in that repeat cycle. So, I tried installing WMC V8.8.5 on my computer, followed the guide to a T, but then when I ran InstallerBLUE, (the one I want), it said 'find is not recognized as an internal or external command, etc. Being new to computers, I have no idea how to fix this! Help!

If the version of WIndows is Home or Professional, you should be able to install WMC. If it is Enterprise, you won't be able to.

Finally got a tuner to work on win 10. My Hauppauge win10 usb tuner was a big fat no go. Tried another brand Acermedia usb tuner. Win 7 system works great. Win 10 has some audio dropouts probably to do with drm or playready.

I tried different versions of Windows 10 and the latest Windows 7
here's what worked for me. I had to install Windows 10 version 1511
(and block all updates)
do a search for Windows 10 version 1511

People who know more about these things than me say that Microsoft removed WMDRM, which was the DRM mechanism used by cable cards in early versions.

That doesn't sound like the driver issue that I know about. Maybe the newer drivers work on win10 (I'm on win7). The driver issues I'm aware of keep WMC from finding the tuners at all.

Hi all,
For some reason some h264 MKVs I download the volume control has no effect, it plays at a constant volume no matter where the slider is.
Plays fine outside of media centre, the volume works.
265s it doesnt seem to be an issue, they work fine.
Seems to be the same with Shark or KLIte...

Yes it's definitely the WMC volume that's the issue, it works fine using media player classic playing the same video file.

It looks OK if your PC is always awake, if not you probably want to check the Wake checkbox so that the PC will wake up to do the update and then go back to sleep.
Also, you should change the scheduled update time from 0:00 (midnight) to something other than that, as that time is a very busy time...

Hi please bare with me I’m not very technical :o
Running win10 64bit my WMC 8.8.4 stopped working yesterday wouldn’t allow me to record!
I uninstalled it.
then installed 8.8.5 now all works as it should, in my previous install I had tried with to no avail to move where my recording’s were saved...

I used the GUI settings, but they would not change the fact that my videos were saved on my C: drive. The registry change solved the problem for me. I don't know why the GUI settings aren't working for me . . .
