NVIDIA has released a software security update display driver for GeForce GPUs to be used with Windows 7/8/10 which are no longer supported by Game Ready Drivers.
The driver supports older GPU hardware which ordinarily don't get driver updates:

I would do a system image backup and create a system restore point before installing any drivers, this way if they don't work properly with WMC, you can go back to the old ones easily (first try going back to the restore point, and if that fails, you can try installing the old drivers and if that...

The Harmony should work if you have the MCE IR Receiver for it to aim at. The IR Blaster takes your remote signal and transmits it via wired sensors to the cable box so it can change channels.

Yes, that definitely occurred to me, that PlayReady may be part of the problem. The fact there is no other way than WMC to get copy protected premium content to play and record for future use, says a lot about why the H.264 issue exists. At least I'm guessing.

I believe this error is related to the HDMI connection. First thing I would verify is if your HDMI cable is securely connected to both your PC and TV. If you have a spare HDMI cable, try swapping it out to see if that resolves your issue.
It can also be related to the video card drivers, in some...
