Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 MC?
by
mercalia » Mon Jun 20, 2022 1:16 pm
The one big and it is big advantage over set-top boxes or freeview boxes is the amount of storage you can put into a Windows MC. But which one? Someone mentioned elsewhere that a W8.1 bpx was better. I think he/she is right under certain extreme conditions?
My W7 mc grew from 4x2tb to 4x4tb to...

I love breaking those bulbs! Such a harmless but guilty pleasure.
When I bought my house and installed lights on the front porch, I remember the first time I saw most of the bulbs missing and broken nearby, up to the height of one or more unknown kids. Rather than getting mad, I thought Now it is...

OK, this will cement my move from WMC to Tivo.
I like my automatic commercial skip. It's not 100% perfect, but I really like it. Tivo does hand-built commercial markers, by humans; therefore, they are 100% accurate. If the interface lets me say, just do it, then superb.
Yes, it's for only a...

After 12+ years of WMC, it's time to move on. With the operating system, WMC program itself, extenders and even the Harmony remotes falling out of support, the writing is on the wall. It's been a good run and seeing how good WMC remains TODAY, it makes you wonder what Microsoft could have done with...

I mounted to the back of the TV and used an IR extender glued to the...

I'm going to go with: just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Unlike a box running VxWorks, a MCE PC is, at its core, a PC.
