So Ericsson intends to buy another technology to kill. What have you heard about Mediaroom since they acquired it from Microsoft?

I would assume any contracts with SD would still be honored as there should be a clause in the contract for this usually. Could be an issue for them when/if the contract is up and they need to renegotiate a new agreement. This is also the data/guide provider for the HDHR view (without DVR subscription) and Live Channels app on Android TV (through the HDHR View app).

As of March 2015, Ericsson Mediaroom TV platforms power 79 commercial deployments in 32 countries, delivering services to over 18 million households via more than 36 million devices. -- Wikipedia.
Our Mediaroom-powered TV services are offered by more than 65 global service providers in 34 countries to over 16 million households and 30 million set-top boxes. -- Ericsson press release.

Alive and well i'd say.

Mediaroom still powers U-verse TV here, but AT&T has said they want to move over to DirecTV's set-top-box platform/software at some point
