Building an extra system and have a quick question if anyone may know.
Will a card like this, that is HDCP compliant, but only has DVI, work fine to set up WMC and display content through a DVI>HDMI adapter?

It should. My video card only have dvi out and I use a cable with Dvi on 1 side and hdmi on the other. You just need to use a set of speakers for audio. Dvi doesn't pass audio.

Yup, audio isn't an issue for this one, it will run through the line-out.
Good to hear it should work. Got one of these cards for $5, so I'll pick up an adapter and give it a shot.

Actually, it can and has for a while WRT most video cards. For example, I use a normal DVI to HDMI cable to connect my GTX660 to my AVR, and I get full HDMI audio. No idea about the OP's card, though.squidboy wrote:Dvi doesn't pass audio.

Yeah I know some DVI cables have the ability to carry it, I would imagine most cards without an HDMI port to begin with will not send audio.
Won't make a difference in my case, I get audio elsewhere.

All DVI cables can carry audio. The pins are part of the spec. The variable is the DVI source.LuckyDay wrote:Yeah I know some DVI cables have the ability to carry it
Probably a safe bet.I would imagine most cards without an HDMI port to begin with will not send audio.
