Disabling page file in Windows
I was wondering if this is ok to do if there's plenty of RAM installed?

What do you expect to gain by disable PageFile?

Disabling will cause you problems with programs that rely on it regardless of RAM installed. Best practice is to disable on your SSD and enable on standard HD. You can set it low @ 1024 MB but will likely run better at recommended size or larger.

Im using a 32GB SSD and since I only run WMC on this machine and it has 16GB of RAM I thought it might be OK?Crash2009 wrote:What do you expect to gain by disable PageFile?
Ok. Well I went ahead and disabled it yesterday after I posted the question. So far no problems.cwinfield wrote:Disabling will cause you problems with programs that rely on it regardless of RAM installed. Best practice is to disable on your SSD and enable on standard HD. You nailed it on the head why I want to disable it. My choices are the 32GB SSD which is pretty full, or my RAID 5 DVR drive.

If it works for you that's great. I also have 16 GB, tried disabling the page file and would run into errors or crashes. I also use my computer for more than HTPC duties so that might have caused of issues for me but YMMV.

We'll see if it stays that way when I switch to Windows 8.1. Currently I'm using Windows 7 and only running WMC. I hope to use Netflix, Hulu, etc after upgrading to Win 8.1. One of those apps might give me trouble.
