Unfortunately my motherboard died and I needed to replace it who he meant a reinstall of everything:( in Australia the only way to get pay tv into Media centre is with a capture card. I was happily using dvblink server with colossus bridge from 1geek1tool but it will no longer activate as their website has disappeared. Anyone possibly have a solution or other method would be great

Not sure how strict your country is, but over here, I have read that a few guys here have changed the MB with the same model, and they didnt even have to rebuild the OS. PlayReady (DRM) was uneffected.

I don't think he is talking about DRM but needs to activate his dvblink software.
Back when I was using capture cards with DirecTV I was using their software and
they take a hardware footprint hash of some kind and provide you with a key for the
particular PC you are using their software on.

Correct, the colossus bridge software needs to activate over the Internet in order to be able to use it but as 1geek1tool.com is gone it can't activate. Even trial needs to activate! So I am stuck

What I was getting at was, replace the motherboard, and put everything back together "as it was" you won't need to activate, because you will be using the original software which is activated all ready.

One other suggestion is crack it.

Google colossus bridge crackz

Might or might not work. Often those kinds of hardware hashes are based (partially) on something like the mac address of the motherboards built in ethernet. But it would be worth a try. The problem is that often if enough time has passed, the original motherboard is no longer available to be purchased. For that reason, I bought a spare motherboard for each of my HTPC's as I built them.
