Any way to increase bitrate on HVR-2255 analog?

I use my analog input on my HVR-2255 for watching/recording DirecTV.

I know if I use the regular WinTV app, I get increase the bitrate and when I was using a Mac with the EyeTV/Elgato device, it looked pretty good.

I would consider the s-video quality "average" and not as nice as with other solutions. DirecTV box is the same.

Anyone know of a registry setting that would help? I have a dedicated WD AV drive for all recordings.
