XBOX 360 can't connect to WMC PC after the first time

Really quirky problem here - boot the wmc pc, boot the xbox360, everything connects and works great. On the XBOX, exit WMC, do other stuff, go back to WMC and it can not connect to the PC. It acts like the PC is down, not on the network, but the PC is up, accessing the network and internet. To fix, have to power off the PC and reboot. If i just shut it down, it hangs up forever.

I suspect some obscure setting on the network card is the cause, but no clue what it would be. FYI problem seemed to start when i installed Intel NIC for the PC to access the network, and used the motherboard NIC to access the silicon dust tuners directly. Have switched it back, but no change.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Details:
Windows 7, home built pc with AMD Phenom 1090T and 16GB memory.
PC and XBOX connected with netgear gigabit switch. No wireless.

Tell the NIC card to wake on lan and to use 'Magic Packets' etc..

Read your post more carefully. You may want to try and 'Bridge' the two nic's. Highlight them both and then right click etc..

Are the two nics on different subnets/networks?

The NIC that talks to the silicon dust tuners isn't on a network at all. just a switch connecting tuners and network card. I'll go see what magic packets are. Thank-you.
