No Tuning Resolver connected

#1

Post by Beerman » Tue Jun 09, 2015 1:04 pm

Do you need to be properly paired for the TA to work? Cox can't seem to keep my card paired but I am positive it's on their end. Things were working perfectly with the cablecard and TA when I switched from a Ceton tuner to the Prime. I get most channels but no SDV (because the TA is seen) and no premium channels. Once Cox pairs the card, I still see no changes but checking back, I see the Data ID changes. It doesn't seem to want to lock.
I've had this problem years ago and it was something on their end but I can't recall what it was. They insist on a truck roll but I know the guy that comes out is only going to do what I am and that's calling in for help.
Any ideas?

Have you called the CableCard department at least 3 times yet?

6 times and 2 visits to the office to exchange cards but they are out of cablecards. They hope to get some in today or tomorrow. The truck techs don't seem to have any either.
Think they care about cablecards much?

It's odd because last night I had a nice person on the phone who seemed liked they really wanted to help. She paired the card 4 times but it never paired on my side and kept changing Data numbers. Of course they say it's the card but it was working perfectly well while in the Ceton tuner.
I think it's the simple fact that on their end, it wants to see what was instead of updating. So, I think getting a new card is the only way to help. Sadly, Silicon has been no help. Ceton would reply to tickets in 24 hours. I guess Silicon is overwhelmed with Kickstarter but they shouldn't let that stop them for helping customers who bought new units. I guess they figure it's not their units fault so we're on our own. I can understand that a bit too.

Do you have your TA cabled like this? or Daisy chained like the TA instructions say?

POE filter not necessary unless you have MoCa.

Have they swapped out the TA, or replaced the coax to the TA?

Not sure if this will help but...

Once the CableCard is repaired to the new tuner, don't the cox reps have to put the TA on the same 'tier' or level in their system as the CableCard for them to talk correctly? I think that was the explanation one of their phone reps gave me 2 or 3 years ago when I had a similar issue when they switched over to SDV.

@crash---I've always had my TA's set up like the instructions. They did mention that in some markets they are suggesting MoCa but not in my area. Plus, I have 100% signal strength on the channels I am getting.
@Mpgrimm2--last night I made sure to ask about the TA. The first few calls they always had me power off for 90 seconds and then let it reload. Last night she didn't so I asked her and she told me she sent a hit to it and it came back fine.

I'll start with a new cable card then go for a new TA. I guess there's always a chance the Prime is bad too but nothing I see on my end looks like its the hardware.

Thanks guys!

New cable card, same problem. Data keeps changing even though they show it paired on their end. I'll have to rely on the truck roll tomorrow night and hope I have someone who is willing to try without blaming it on the Prime. I guess that could be the problem but it doesn't appear so. Who'd know since Silicon hasn't replied to my ticket after 48 hours?

My guess is that the problem is with the account. You were paired to a different tuner previously, they haven't figured out how to remove the previous and setup the new.

My HDHR3-CC just arrived tonight, I will be using my spare CC, No TA to fight with, Its going into a separate system. I'm going to try it with Win 10 Preview, Emby and Emby TV(as an alternative to WMC), and Schedules Direct for the guide. It'll probably be Xmas before it's working. You never know, I might get lucky.

I've no doubt it's a Cox error. Just ticks me off 6 calls and now a truck roll and I'm just glad I'm not paying for it.

Almost 2 hours with a Cox contractor and I have no channels after he left. I have to escalate it. He went back and forth texting, not talking, to his supervisor and they did the same thing over and over and over until I said stop. Either do something different or leave. He says they did all they can and I have to have a true, Cox cablecard person. Why didn't that happen already?

The good news is Silicon called right as the tech came by and checked my logs and everything is rock steady. Props to them for the phone call.

SEMI SUCCESS!!!!!!
I was pissed so I called my local number and they send me to somewhere else and on the first try, they paired it. However, I still have a tuning adapter problem and am not getting all the channels so there's that. But at least I get premium channels.

Many of the guys here have the TA cabled like the picture I sent you. In some cases, it's the "Only way" to eliminate problems.

Beerman wrote: Plus, I have 100% signal strength on the channels I am getting.
The signal strength meter is inaccurate, to put it mildly. For example, everybody knows that (0.0) dbmv is the best, and +/ - 18.0 you get no picture. The signal strength meter on the HDHR can show 100% signal when you actually have +18 dbmv. Not saying that this is the problem, just suggesting something you might want to look into

Silicon suggested I get a new TA and of course when I went, Cox was out of them until Monday. Last week they were out of cablecards. They really don't want to support these things, there is no doubt in my mind.
I am getting my premium and non SDV channels so at least I can watch most of what I want. I'll ask Cox for a credit since they couldn't pair the card the first 8 times and even with a truck roll. Plus, no TA so I always have fun asking for a few bucks off my bill. Heck, they love me when I call and they see I've been a customer for 26 years.

Ahhhhhh, got another TA from Cox, brand new and they still can't get it to work with my cablecard. Still getting the No Tuning Resolver connected message.
I just can't figure out why this can't be done after many, many, many calls. It's painful and trying my patience. No way is it the hardware. The card is paired but it's got to be idiots at Cox.
Sorry, that's my gut feeling.

Signcarver suggests 4 possibilities working with Cox >>>>>

http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... 506#p89506

One of the suggestions, is to wire the TA like the picture in post #4

Also, could you answer these 3 questions:

What do the logs of the prime say?
What does the cablecard status say?
What do the TA pages look like?

Might just look like jibberish to you or I, but there are some people here that can spot a problem a mile away.

One other thing, Replace the coax that connects to the TA.

My cable card shows paired and I'm getting all premium and hd channels except the SDV ones. Keep in mind all things worked as wired with the Ceton tuner but I understand the Prime may see things differently. I've changed ALL the cables, used different USB ports and I'm sure it's not the hardware.
I've not tried wiring it differently and am still waiting back from Silicon with the latest info after my last reply to them. I guess I should try the splitter but I don't know why adding more wiring will help but I'm game for anything at this point. It's pretty simple to go from the TA to the Prime and one really need not do more but I still have an aching feeling Cox isn't doing things right too.

Bad USB cable from TA to Prime? Can you try a different one?

Any lights on the TA to indicate it's authorized? A Moto TA should have solid amber.

When I had a similar issue, the cable company had inadvertently removed the TA from my account.

Otherwise, your Prime could be faulty.

I've used 3 different USB cables, all which work fine with other devices. Once rebooted after a hit and 5-8 minutes of flashing amber then turning solid amber (done this a zillion times with Cox) the same thing happens.....nothing. They tell me they are positive they have the right TA with serial number attached to the device. I do have another TA on another tuner that is working fine (Ceton ETH).
Based on the logs that Silicon checked a few days ago, they show the Prime is fine and not reporting any problems. They actually called me to have me try a few things. My money is still on Cox and I'm going to ask them to send new firmware.
Can these be updated from Cox or do I need a truck roll to update the firmware?

How do I check the firmware on my tuning adapter if it's not being seen by the Prime?
