WMC double button press issue

I have windows 7 home premium 64bit and am using a hauppauge colossus via component cables to my comcast stb and have an hp media center remote and ir receiveR. Im using the hauppauge ir emitter which i have over the sensor on my stb n conjuction with the hp blaster I have everything working except when I use my media center remote if i press any button wmc inputs it as double. This has happened on and off for 3 years since ive been using my colossus. The keyboard works normally and i can also use the mouse with out the double input issue. Why is this happening Thank u all in advance

is your stb near your ir receiver for the WMC remote?

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be that the stb must have been receiving signals from the WMC remote.

I made a cardboard shield that covered the emitter and blocked the remote signal from reaching the stb ir window.

once I blocked the stb from being able to receive signals from the remote the problem went away.
