I think you mean Zap2It. They supply WMC guide data. Gracenote supplies the data for Xbox One. But I see your point.

Oh yea.

I guess I thought Zap2It was part of the Tribune Media company that Gracenote had merged with.

You're right, they are indeed TMS, now Gracenote. Sorry about that

A couple of good, reliable alternatives are Digiguide and Big Screen EPG, both popular with our friends in the UK and integrate into WMC nicely. They're not free, but pretty cheap.

If someone experienced in the process could write up a wiki article on how exactly to do that integration, that would be awesome.

I just did a manual update. MC indicates that my guide data goes through 4/29 - 7 AM. My listings only go through 4/28 - 7 PM.

Not really. The one thing is to have a file that is compatible with the DVR software (in this case, Media Center) that can be used in place of the internal download.
I looked at the Schedules Direct website some time back & it appeared some open source programs used the SD guide. I'm not a programmer, but if the SD guide data can be downloaded into an open source program then why not into WMC?
Because Schedules Direct has a contract with their source, Gracenote, for the guide data and the terms of that contract don't allow them to provide the guide data for any commercial applications.

Microsoft pays Gracenote for the guide data it supplies to WMC. If the WMC users went to Schedules Direct and received the data through them, Gracenote would lose the income from Microsoft.
I just looked again & Schedules Direct charges $25/year. Wouldn't Gracenote get paid the same from SD whether I used WMC or open source software?

Looks like the supposedly good server IP died. (or is stuck or overloaded?)

Does the person with the MS connections still read here?

Mine works without those hosts entries now. Try just commenting them out ( # in front ). FWIW, I get 65.55.186.115 when I ping it.

Is anybody else having a program guide download issue for WMC XP edition. My program guide stops on Tuesday 19th May 2015.
I am considering upgrading to WMC Windows 7 edition but I cannot confirm if the program guide is still available for that edition.
If anybody in the UK is using either of these editions do you still receive program guide download, thank you.

I can't speak on Win XP Media Center, but here in the US on Win7 WMC my guide reports it goes out to May 29. Additionally, I have recordings scheduled for as late as May 27. So from this perspective, it looks okay.

My XP has no guide data as of 5 pm today. Getting error 33 when manually downloading and if configuring guide 'unknown discovery service error code 14', Date and time on PC appears OK, I'm in the US. I saw one post talked about moving files from another computer, not gonna do that.

Not happy.
