Hi,

Can anyone confirm that they can download the latest EPG data in the UK? I tried last night and again this morning but its failing and stating cannot connect to remote server under the event log.

I am also getting a lot of errors with the EPG this week. I have 6-7 windows 7 machines without guide data. I have tried disabling the MS firewall, using nearby and far away zipcodes and then using my own zipcode again in TV setup, using the "repair" function in my HDHR prime software, and have not been able to get any consistent results.

I get "failed to download EPG", "failed to previously download EPG", headend id errors, etc.

Somehow, I got one computer to update, but I have not been able to repeat the process.

If anyone has a surefire way to get it up update, please let me know.

Thanks!

There always seems to be a problem with the EPG when the summertime/daylight saving time change is looming. UK time change is on 29th March. US on 8th March I think.

I have never made the host file changes or anything and mine has worked for years now. For about the past week, my guide will not download. I tried the deleting the.db file and folder. Then it prompted me to rerun live TV setup, to which it would not complete, because I can't download guide. So I restored .db file and folder, and now my TV works again, just no guide listings.

Failed to retrieve EpgListings (Error: Unable to connect to the remote server)

Any suggestions?

I just noticed something strange with my guide. I am missing data for about 90% of the channels. The manual update appears to finish normally, but I am still missing guide data. I've tried this on both my PCs running WMC so it appears to be database issue. Is there anything else I can try? PS. I am on Comcast in Atlanta.

I live in Atlanta and have Comcast. I have 6 Windows 7 MCE systems setup using an HDHomeRun as a backend, ALL lost their guide information this week.

I too had issues with the Guide not pulling the correct data. I checked the Event Logs and there were errors that it could not connect to the servers or not not getting a response from them. I did a fair amount of searching and came across this article:

http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... 670#p82670

The last entry by JackDB describes the steps that I followed. I already had my DNS set to Google's so I skipped that step. I then set the host file entries, cleared the DNS cache, and then re-ran the TV Signal setup. However, I still had an issue pulling the data. When checking the Event logs, it now successfully connecting to the servers, but it was listed as an incorrect Headend issue, which was resolved by changing the zip code. I selected one that is still within our area. Our city is covered by 2 zip codes. Once I did that, the guide pulled correctly. I have made the change on 4 of the 6 systems, and it has worked.

I am using the last 2 for testing. For example, I have not run Windows updates on these systems, I set them up, configured them, then locked them down. So, on 1 of these I have run all of the Windows Updates, and then I will check the guide to see if maybe Microsoft has an update that effects this. Although, I have read others have tried this without success.

Although resolved, I am still not sure what or whom is to blame for the issue, Microsoft? Comcast? Zap2It (I believe they provide the EPG information)? Some combination of all of them?

'Get latest guide listings' has just worked for me (12:30 on 5th March), and I now have an EPG extending to 20th March.

I only have guide data up to Marth 16th @ 7pm. The download completes successfully (I still have the workaround hosts file entries in place since if I remove them I continue to get connection errors). The date on the *.enc file is March 3rd. So it looks like that is the last day that Microsoft created a new update for my provider (FiOS in NNJ).

My guide only goes to Mar 16th too. In the last few days, I have seen a couple of MCUpdate failures, but I have also seen it successfully complete on retries without getting the last guide date extended (Comcast in Sno Co., WA)

Looks like the monthly failure situation. My guide ends on the 17th. Getting "can't connect to the server" most of the time but in the couple of times a server connection was made over the last few days get "guide data is up to date" but it is not. This has been happening pretty much every month for the last 4 months or so. It has been fixed (no idea how because Microsoft never responds to the Connect tickets). Maybe they are just trying to annoy us enough so we'll stop using a product they don't feel like supporting anymore.

I tried to report the problem to MS answer desk, but was disconnected twice.

Cox cable Las Vegas also only have guide to March 16th - this is becoming routine every few weeks. I am getting the cannot connect to server error messages sometime and other times the guide downloads correctly. This is just Microsoft not serving its customers because they don't care.

Same as others have reported: guide data up to March 16th at 7:00pm for Optimum (Cablevision) in NJ.

Mine ends slightly later, 1:00am on 17 March. (Verizon FiOS, 21093, Baltimore, MD metro). Event logs show updates are proceeding normally, there is just no new data. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\eHome\Packages\EpgListings\EpgListing.enc is timestamped 3 March @ 10:32PM. As others have noted, this has occurred before around daylight / standard time change weekends. It will probably be fixed by 9 March, but if not, there will be less than 1 week of guide data left at that point.

I have Comcast in Colorado (zip 80125) and my guide also ends on March 16th. I checked the event log and I have been getting errors that it can't connect to the remote server. I am using Windows 7.

My guide also ends at 1 am on 17 March (Key West, Comcast Keys / Monroe County (Digital)); .enc is also timestamped 3 March.
