Used Infinitv4 PCIe in new computer
I have been all over the net trying to find solutions and tried different suggestions that I've seen, but nothing works. Even tried a support ticket 3 weeks ago and have heard nothing.
Here is the deal.
I recently purchased a used Infinitv 4 pcie card off craigslist. I installed it in my computer and installed the drivers.
The Ceton diagnostics tools is unable to find the tuner and the blue light just flashes.
I looked under network settings and it has a generic Microsoft IP address of 168.xxx.xxx.xxx My router (Comcast) supplies IP addresses 10.0.0.xxx
If I bridge the connections the tuner card is found and the blue light turns solid blue.
If I open Media Center to complete the setup I get to the tuners and they're grayed out and each one says "GEORGE" next to them. My computer name is Media-Server.
I renamed my computer to George and I can complete the setup, activated the Cable Card and everything works fine.
If I go thru the setup again but chose reset to factory it says it reset. I then go thru the setup again it still says George next to the tuners.
If I do the rest tuners in the Ceton Diagnostic it deletes the bridge.
All I want to do is change the name from George to my computer name Media-Server
Can anyone help? Please and thank you

Well, you could try this. Uninstall the Ceton Software, do a factory reset, then install the Ceton software and make sure not to install "Network Tuners"JayZe73 wrote: I looked under network settings and it has a generic Microsoft IP address of 168.xxx.xxx.xxx

Also, don't be shy about showing the real IP of your Ceton. Almost everybody has 192.168.200.1
Does your really begin with 168? Maybe GEORGE was dyslexic.
There are some good details in this post where John was helping me straighten out my IP's.

Thanks Crash, I will check that link out. I was on my laptop and was going off memory on everything happening. I meant to put 169 as and example of the IP address not 168. But the actual IP I'm getting is 169.254.120.100 next to Autoconfiguraton IPv4... under networking.Crash2009 wrote:

Post #14 is the one that actually got me on the right track.
Bridging to NO, and reboot.

You also might want to tell us what kind of NIC you have on the HTPC.

169's usually mean that your nic is unable to get a normal IP from your DHCP server.

I would suggest doing a factory reset from the ceton diagnostic tool while having the bridged connection turned on that should get your cards ip back to the normal of "192.168.200.1". You then will need to unbridge the connection to see your card but you should have a more normal setup process from that point forward.

Crash: My NIC is the on-board Realtec PCIe GBE Family Controller.
I will Google the 169 here shortly.
Shark: If I have a bridged connection and do a reset network from Ceton Diagnostics tool I get a pop up message saying "Failed to reset netowork settings. Please try again or contact Ceton support if unable to proceed." Then the bridged connection goes away and revers back to a 169.xxx IP Address.

Weird, can you get to your cards "webpage" by going to either 192.168.200.1 or 169.xxx number after you preform the factory reset?

After you get that mess untangled and pc stable, go to Realtek and get the factory driver. Install it and get stable before you move on to the tuner.

Ok, once you rebridge the card can you get to its webpage? You can do that from the ceton diagnostic tool once it sees the card in the devices tab. "Go to Infini TV Webpage". If that works what IP address does it have in your browser's url bar?

Not good. I've tried everything. Even another support ticket. They've had me do a couple things then had me send a log file I sent it and they said it was the wrong one. So I sent another 6 hrs ago and haven't heard back. They were pretty prompt earlier.

Have you tried this?
Shut the PC down, remove the power cord, hit the power button to discharge residual power. (AKA cold Boot) Then remove the tuner card.
Fire it back up, un-install the tuner drivers and everything Ceton. Go into Network Connections remove bridging and the tuner if its still there, set your Local Area Connection properties (IPV4) and set to Obtain an IP automatically. In other words "Get the PC stable"
