I have the Hauppauge 2250 tuner installed. I was wondering if I have to have the WinTV software installed for media center. When I installed the tuner I also installed all the software to include Hauppauge WinTV.
The reason I ask is because if I click the Live TV button on my remote, the WinTV pops up in the background behind media center. I think if I do not notice it, it takes one of the available tuners and I might mis a recording.

The Hauppauge WinTV software does not need to be installed for the 2250 to operate with Media Center.
You can use use the Hauppauge CIR Config Tool software to configure whether WinTV or Media Center is launched from the remote.
