Linksys DMA2200 Questions

#1

Post by Freddysocram » Thu Nov 27, 2014 1:57 pm

Hi, thanks for reading, hope this is posted in the right area.

I have recently purchased a DMA2200 from ebay. All up and running ok(win 7 backend) but i have two quires;

1.
Image quality; The menus,text and image, even the linksys system menus do not look sharp(blocky) as i would expect for 1080p. Its connected via HDMI to LG hd tv. All resolutions are available but i cant see a difference between 1080p and 720i, there is a difference with lower resolutions. However DVD menus do look better/right to me. Is this normal? (media center backend connected directly via VGA looks way better)
2.

Firmware ; Currently running 1.1.5 I believe there is a more recent version but can't update due to network issue. I have read this is due to the servers being off and no longer updating these devices, is this true? is there any other way to update? is there any point?

Thanks again, and thoughts welcome!

See what your picture quality looks like when you are playing actual video rather than looking at menus. You should expect to see excellent quality video when using HDMI and set to 1080.

The U.S. server is still up and responding as of a few minutes ago. Linksys firmware 1.1.12 appears to be the latest. Do you have a U.S. market device?
To update your firmware go into the Linksys settings menu and select: "General/Check for update"
This is the top level menu before you actually start the media center extender where you choices are "Disk Playback," WIndows Media Center" and "Settings."
The text below is the conversation between the Linksys server and the DMA2200.
