A few minutes ago, while watching Recorded TV on the HTPC, I got a number of messages on the screen. 'Your service cable provided is updating the CableCard firmware'.
In a couple of minutes the messages stopped and I got a WMC prompt that a new CableCard has been detected. I clicked to set it up and went through the prompts.
Everything is back to normal - I think.
I'm on Comcast and have never experienced this.

This happens from time to time when providers push firmware upgrades.

I hadn't encountered this before in my 3+ years of HTPC dealings. Perhaps it was done, if ever, during the night. In any case, it happened during prime time and hosed 4 shows.

I just had this happen to me during the wee hours of the morning, fortunately I didn't have to answer any prompts though. So far it appears that everything is functioning ok though.
