Echo turns off
I have had all the issues that people have reported. Occasional reboots, freezes, etc.
This is however something new to me. One of my echo would often show a windows screen saying LOGGING OFF and would just log off the WMC computer. Then it turns off. This is happening very often. The echo is plugged in its own power brick. Anybody seen this behavior?

I have seen it happen once or twice with a Windows CE OS screen on the extender but nothing other than the few I have seen.

It happens very often now on both my echos. Very annoying.

Both prongs on the A/C adapter are the same size. Try plugging it in the other way.

Don't forget to sacrifice your first born . You should submit a support ticket if you haven't already. Maybe they're defective.

Not sure, but I respect the opinion of the source.

This started recently and on both echos. It can't be a hardware issue. I wonder if the problem originates at the WMC.RyC wrote:Don't forget to sacrifice your first born . You should submit a support ticket if you haven't already. Maybe they're defective.

There are also a bunch of other good suggestions in post 79968. You never know, one of them might work for you. If all else fails open a support ticket and ask for RMA

If you are seeing the logging off message, either ehshell is crashing or you have something popping an unauthorized dialog on the extender. Going through your event logs should indicate what the source is.kokorib wrote:I have had all the issues that people have reported. Occasional reboots, freezes, etc.
This is however something new to me. One of my echo would often show a windows screen saying LOGGING OFF and would just log off the WMC computer. Then it turns off. This is happening very often. The echo is plugged in its own power brick. Anybody seen this behavior?

Appreciated. I have had some suspicion that teamviewer, which is installed on the host machine, may be the culprit. I'll see if the logs help.

The WMC logs show multiple "Session Enforcement"s triggered by unauthorized windows of Teamviewer. Now the question is what to do about it.

Looks like it might be your Teamviewer software is trying to popup something informational. You might want to disable this software.

Yep, the reason I suspected that was that I would see teamviewer windows pop up occasionally on the echo. My host is almost headless and I need some remote desktop software to access it. Logmein is gone, I'll have to figure something out.Jimmersd wrote:Looks like it might be your Teamviewer software is trying to popup something informational. You might want to disable this software.

Got something against Remote Desktop Connection? For Win 7 the directions are in the Windows Help and Support section.
Has anyone tried these directions for Win 8?

I use tight VNC it works OK. RDP will connect but it logs off the current user if you are using the PC as HTPC, if it is headless then RDP is OK.
VNC will connect and leave the current user connected also so you see what they see.

I have used RDP as well as tight, ultra VNC, etc. RDP has limitations, e.g. Windows won't let you change some settings while in remote session. If I remember correctly screen resolution is one. I haven't used it in years. Maybe it's better now. The other thing with all these apps is that you can't connect outside of the LAN without port forwarding. Teamviewer provides for an elegant solution like that.

My Echo has just started doing this.... only when I try to play a WTV file... everything will be fine, and as soon as I hit PLAY, I see "Logging Off", and then the Echo turns off...
I do not use Teamviewer software nor do I use any RDP....

Look in the event viewer on the PC. This kind of behavior seems to originate from the PC- WMC crashing, restarting, antivirus/firewall interfering with the connection.
