infiniTV 6 - No Tuners Available
Every once and a while Windows media center will loose my tuners. If I try to play live TV it will say something to the affect of "no tuners available."
If I leave Media Center open it will not record any of my shows, However the weird thing is If I close WMC the background service will record the programs as scheduled.
The only way to fix this is by restarting my computer.
Does anyone have any clues on what I can do to fix this strange problem?

I am having the same issue. I locked 3 tuners to one WMC and 3 to the other and things are better but I still need to reboot after 5 or so days. My wife is not pleased as it seems to fail whenever she touches it. I have been using WMC for years with a OTA Homerun and this is a new issue for me.

It seems to happen to me more with my ETH-6 than with my PCIe4 tuner. About twice a month on average I guess. Kind of a PITA!

It happened to me once. I think ETH "forgot" to release the tuners after program we were watching ended. We pressed stop and existed to main menu. However, going into tuner diagnostics still showed that particular tuner "playing" that channel, still.

I think its more of a problem with Windows than it is a Ceton problem. Because I cant even turn on a channel, but If I close media center it records everything normally.

Do any of you happen to be running the MB3 WMC backend? That definitely caused major issues for me, grabbing tuners and not letting go. Removed MB3 and no more issues.

That's ok, you can always hope.....but I don't think we'll see any major roll up of MC fixes.

Yes that would have certainly told us they were still putting the odd grad student on the case
The only fixes we see today are guide related, and that's only after big hoo-ha's from us to wake them up.

Nope - this was a hotfix I fought with them for about 2 years ago. Essentially, malformed program guide data broadcast by certain channels, in particular Fox affiliates, would cause ehrecvr to crash as soon as you tuned to the channel.STC wrote:^^ Is that a new MS fix for such errors erkotz?

Just an update removed ServerWMC app and MB3 plugin. It made no difference. My solution for now is doing regular restarts of my server once a day.
Any other Ideas?

If your tuner is a ETH disable EEE or any other green settings on your NIC & router, try a switch instead of router connection.

I actually just got mine on monday that i ordered through Amazon. I followed the instructions and was in Media Center on the phone with my cable company trying to pair the cablecard with the infinitv 6 pcie when i got an error code and my computer crashed. Since then it doesn't work. Windows finds it in device manager, but no lights come on. I have started a ticket and so now just waiting to hear back from Ceton. If anyone else might have any help that would be appreciated.

A quick update, doing the above along with disabling EEE and adding a fan on the ETH 6 has things working better.smassey22180 wrote:I am having the same issue. Try this (it seems to have fixed my "tuner not available" problem)...
Go to "View network status and tasks page" in Control Panel and set the network to "Private/Home" rather than the "Public" it probably has currently (click "customize" on the right).
Apparently, Windows tends to block discovery of network devices when the network is marked as public which can prevent WMC from accessing tuners.
