Recordings start/end 15 minutes late
For some reason my HTPC server running Win 7 ultimate x64 always starts recording my videos about 15 minutes late and ends 15 minutes late.
I already checked my clock and it's fine.
the recording settings say to start 2 minutes early and end 3 minutes late.
Time zone is correct (-8 - PST)
Not sure what else can correct this?

Sounds like the Time Sync problem to me. Try the instructions in this post. http://www.thegreenbutton.tv/forums/vie ... nc+#p75159MarkJohnson wrote:For some reason my HTPC server running Win 7 ultimate x64 always starts recording my videos about 15 minutes late and ends 15 minutes late.

It cannot be the clock if it affects both the before and after delays!
Change the settings to something else - like 1 minute before and 2 after. That might overwrite some corrupted settings.

Uh, 15 late on both ends can't be the clock? Wrong. Though he said he checked it.

You are right, clock is off by 15 minutes. Happened on my PC, had to change the source for clock to time.nist.gov to be able to synchronize again.

That is real useful. I would be good if the OP would try that and report back.STC wrote:http://time.is from the HTPC
I tried it and it and found I was 00.2 seconds slow, Win 7 x 64 with std. time set up, never had a problem with it!
For those that do have problems mobo/battery maybe?

^ Usually a poor oscilating crystal to make it go way out of whack quickly.
No matter though if you make the HTPC sync each day.
The coin cells are used only when the motherboard has no power to remember date/time and bios settings.

Unless the OP doesnt know how to read a clock, there's something else going on other than a bad clock setting.MarkJohnson wrote: I already checked my clock and it's fine.
Can the clock have the right time and still have recordings start late?

Interesting question, and on the other side of the coin........Can a clock have the wrong time and start and stop recordings correctly?dmagerl wrote:Can the clock have the right time and still have recordings start late?MarkJohnson wrote: I already checked my clock and it's fine.

I know for a fact that the clock that is displayed within WMC is disconnected from the system clock. You hit the play button and the progress bar comes up. In the upper right corner is the time. I've had, many times, that this time is just plain wrong. A restart of WMC is needed to bring it back into sync with the system clock.
But I've never seen it affect anything other than the display.

Since my last post I have noticed my newer recordings have been a little late on both ends, but I seem to get most all of the shows. I seem to miss the previews of the show which is okay and I seen the starting show's logo so I think I got it all.
I noticed it was off by about 3 minutes, so I manually resynced with windows time and after a successful sync it still reports it is 3 minutes fast.
Should I use windows time to sync? Or some other service? does media center recording delay, also delay my clock erroneously? I'll try bumping it to 5 minutes for a test in the mean time.

belt and suspenders is always a good idea Plenty of free windows services to synch time, and plenty of available sources...I synch every 12 hours...BUT the issue is that some stations prefer to be "off" - sometimes by 20-30 seconds...that's why (if you have the available tuners), starting early and going long is always a good idea.MarkJohnson wrote: Should I use windows time to sync? That is a possibility that might explain the late start. Maybe there was no tuner available.sbaeder wrote: (if you have the available tuners)
