Win7 - Multiple mcepg files

#1

Post by choliscott » Tue Jul 29, 2014 5:18 am

Hi Everyone,

I was just looking in the eHome folder & notice the following

mcepg2-0 7/28/14 7:45pm 175,380 KB
mcepg2-1 7/28/14 10:16pm 176,404 KB

Last time I checked, I thought I only saw one of these files, not 2

Is this normal & why does it create the 2nd file ?

Thanks

The mcepgX-X files are the database files where Media Center stores the Electronic Program Guide data.

Any time MC finds an error in the EPG database, it creates a new instance of the database files and abandons the one with the error. The mcepg with the highest number and the most recent date (probably todays date) should be the iteration that MC is currently using.

So if you have a lot of these old mcepg instances, you may an issue that needs to be dealt with.

If you only have a couple then it shouldn't be anything to worry about.
