nVidia GT-430 -- RGB or YCbCr?

I've read conflicting opinions about which color output to use. My Samsung DLP is set to sRGB. Should I be sending RGB or YCbCr (HDMI via a Denon AVR)? I use my HTPC mainly for BR and MKV playback.

YCbCr. Blu-rays are YCbCr, so setting the GPU to output YCbCr will ensure you are getting the correct colorspace and black levels to the TV. The TV will then convert to RGB and display the picture. Setting the GPU to RGB means the conversion is done at the GPU, and in my experience, Nvidia GPUs don't do the conversion 100% correct....they get very close, but they are slightly off. Then again, your TV may not convert YCbCr to RGB correctly either, but there's a better chance that your TV does it right vs your GPU.

Of course, this really only matters when you are talking about a calibrated screen. If you don't have calibrated high-quality display, it doesn't really matter what you do.

I'm happier with the way flesh tones look through YCbCr compared to RGB with Nvidea or ATI cards.
It helps to properly calibrate your display of course.

Thanks, guys, that's basically what I thought. I haven't had a proper, professional calibration done, just simple user tweaks, so, you're right, it probably doesn't matter that much. But I'd like to get it right in theory.
