Media center consuming large quantities of memory
At some point 6 months ago my media center(MC) began consuming large quantities of memory over time. The PC is on 24/7 and if I let MC run more than 3 days the Ehshell process will eat up all the system memory. Some days it consumes slower than others and sometimes it wont grow for a while. I have been trying to track down the issue for a while now but have not been able to identify a cause. I thought it may have been the TVLibrary addon, but that wasnt it. I removed and reinstalled MC and that didnt fix it. I thought maybe it was the meta data for all my movies so got rid of that and it didnt help. I am at the point where i wrote a script to restart MC automatically every 3 days because otherwise it would crash on me.
Has anyone heard or experienced an almost memory leak like condition with media center and resolved it?
I have picked up the investigation again, starting with a perfmon log. But before I get to deep I thought I should ask.
Thanks.

I had high CPU usage issues that has hopefully been resolved (one week running) by removing all folder from all libraries in Windows Media Player. May be unrelated, but thought I'd share.

No go. Soon as you clear out the libraries they rebuild from MCE.glassr wrote:I had high CPU usage issues that has hopefully been resolved (one week running) by removing all folder from all libraries in Windows Media Player. May be unrelated, but thought I'd share.

Holidayboy, seems like this was fixed in a driver patch by nvidia and ATI. I could be wrong. However, I did upgrade to the latest driver just in case.
You also lead me onto something else interesting. Blocking off pin 19 to prevent the computer from thinking the screen is disconnected.

I'm seeing the same thing - high memory usage. I have 8GB installed - it was always about 6 more then I needed. Redcently, I'm seeing memory usage hit 7 out of 8 gigs with a ton of paging. This is making the computer tough to use....
