We can fully expect this to get a very significant interface overhaul to make it look and operate much more like the next generation Xbox interface, which is also based on Metro

It sounds like this person is just making guesses based in the fact that it was taken out of the developer build... But I wouldn't expect much of an overhaul personally.

I like how people think the 'Metro' style started with windows phone 7. In reality it started back with Windows XP Media Center addition. Yes it has evolved (and will continue to) but thats where it really started, and a major overhaul of its layout really isn't needed for Windows 8, it already would work great on a tablet or any touch interface. That being said a refresh is always welcome (maybe a more officaul method of skinning the UI).

I had tried WP7 on my HTC HD2, i just got a HTC Radar. Tell you what i love the UI, it is as has been said before - the next gen of Mediacenters Metro UI. Honestly I hope microsoft kill mediacenter and just make all the items in it available as live tiles...
That is all

Looks rather good, IMHO

Meh, not a fan. Parts of the interface are cool, but no matter how much they try, I just don't think they can beat the current 7MC interface. Things I don't like- the delay is much longer than from my Ceton, no DVR (?!), HD isn't instant... it must queue up a bit (kind of like netflix). The guide itself is a cute way to display things, but in the end, there's a reason why the grid guide is found throughout the industry- because it easily displays a lot of information. So all in all, nice as an extra basic hd set top box that probably doesn't cost you anything extra per month. But what I'd really rather see is bringing IPTV directly to media center... let's plug in our internet connection and get instant access to all that TV instead. (Ideally, separate from whatever your paid bandwidth limits are).

I believe the Niveus product is just a front-end for MCE. Not that that's a bad thing, but it still fully uses MCE on the backend
