Linksys 2100 and 2200 failures

I've been using a combination of Linksys and HP extenders for several years (one of the first out HP units). Lately I've been having Linksys failures with the following symptoms:

1. Video (live tv and protected it is TWC) will start freezing and then running and freezing. If you stop and trying to retune, you get video error and if you reboot you get an endless circle when you try to play any video. Connection is ok but the extender is useless. I now have four dead 2200s and one dead 2100 units.

2 Power cycle and reconnect doesn't help.

3. Reset switch and power cycle and reconnect doesn't help.

Is there something that "expires" in these units? The last 2200 was a recent Ebay purchase but it was new in box with all the protective plastic still in place and lasted three weeks. Didn't even get to update the libraries.

The HP units keep running and the Ceton Echo still plays with it's know list of problems.

I haven't used mine for a while, but I was wondering, out of curiosity, is your cable provider like mine adding more h264 content?, and is this a factor in your current situation?

No, that's not it because when this happens the unit won't play any protected Recorded TV that it played before or any video even rips. I think everything here is still MPEG2, maybe that will change when Comcast takes over.

This is TWC Cisco head end with SDV.

Two common problems with the Linksys devices:
* They don't like being on the same network as a Galaxy S4
* You should set their DNS to 0.0.0.0 to stop them trying to contact update servers that no longer exist
