My new HTPC is using an AMD A10 6700 APU. It's 65watts. I've heard the stock cooling isn't bad but wondered if anyone else had found a better solution in terms of temps and noise? The 6700 is relatively new. The A10 5700 is similar (65watts) but a little slower. Or even a A10 5800/6800 (which run at 100watt) solution would obviously work.
The case isn't small, but it's not full size either (about 5 inches tall) so I'm looking for something lower profile.
So far I've considered these:

Benchmarks on A10 aftermarket coolers seem scarce so far.
I've also considered just using the stock heatsink with a better fan (bigger, quieter, but pushing more air).
Low profile CPU cooler for A10 6700

Hmmm this one seems to have a lot of positive reviews and does well in noise/cooling roundups...

Have you considered water cooling such as Antek or Corsair? The radiator is a bit bulky but the head (that's the part attached to the CPU) is sleek and leaves plenty of room for the ram. Water likely does well in the noise/cooling roundups. Mine Antek is 2 years old and is still quiet.

I used the Noctua NH-L9a on a Phenom x4 and it worked very well and was super quiet. Sold the whole system, but continue to use the Intel version on an i3 3225. Super compact, super quiet, great cooling.

I have the Gelid Shero. Overall I'm happy with it. I currently have it set on fan level 3 and never gets over 40 C. It's noticeably more quiet than the AMD stock cooler I got with my A6 trinity, but you can still hear it when the tv is off. I could probably bring it down to 2 and be just fine. (not noticeable at all with tv on) It is big and covers a large area which is nice, but also made for shorter cases. My case is a little under 5 inches and it fits fine. It's a bit of a pain to install. I had to take the motherboard out because you have to fasten the screws from underneath, so if you install it after you have put your pc together be aware of that.
