Shrieking sounds on media extender

#1

Post by michaeljc70 » Sat Mar 22, 2014 2:30 am

I have some video files that play fine on my media center and other pcs. When I play them on my extender, the sound is all static and shrieking (video is fine). At first I thought my TV was the culprit since I fed the HDMI into the TV and the Optical out from the tv to my Soundbar. But when I tried using RCA cables directly from the extender, it still had that horrible sound. Any ideas?

Linksys DMA2200. It is on the latest firmware (which is very old).

Reminds me of the noise I got with the Echo, when I had Bitstreaming set incorrectly. Does the Linksys have a setting for that? (on/off)

I looked and there were 2 audio settings. One was Stereo/Surround and one was internal/external surround processing. I tried changing both and still had the problem.

What kind of video file are you trying to play on the Linksys?
