Extender lost server rights

I have a Linksys extender that I do not use very often. I have a Win 7 computer that records TV but I keep all my photos and music on a server which is running Win 8. I was using the extender over the weekend and it is no longer letting me access my data folders from the server. I wondered what the simpliest fix was for this. Should deleting the extender setup and doing the setup again fix this. I can still access these server folders using my media center just fine. The media center is automatically logged on using my family name as the username.
