Question about tuning adapter and InfiniTV ETH6?

Hello

I have an infini 6 Ethernet model. I am connected on cox. I have moto mtr700 connected to it via the usb. It does not show up in the ceton diagnostic screen. Should it? There is no driver package loaded. I can tune some channels (maybe 50 out 250) including HD premium channels but can't tune SD channels that are analog. Also I can tune some channels I don't pay for in windows 8. I get a tuner conflict in windows 8 after 5 minutes no matter what channel. In windows 7 I can play the channels I receive for hours and don't get the channels I don't pay for. It is the same computer with dual boot.

The tuning adapter has the yellow amber light saying it should work.

I contacted ceton and there only suggestion was to rma which I did once but it is still happening. They also suggested I get rid of all splits which I did. The ceton and TA are on the first split 2 feet into the house. The channels I get have no pixilation and the signal for those stations is between -1 db and 4db. No televesions have any problem nor cable modem or phone which are split latter.

Did the Moto TA ever work or is this all new installation?

Basically the TA driver is inside the ETH device and you don't need anything running on the computer to get it. Try unplugging and replugging the USB connection on the TA side and see if it gets recognized. I'm on a cisco system and the TA isn't one of my problems. On some systems the TA has to be paired by the cable operator, I don't know if that's what happens in your area, but you could call the same number you used to activate your cableCARD and make sure that the TA is operational. You should see something on the web gui tab for the TA such as disabled. Normally that will change to initializing, then you'll down stream and upstream connections. Without the TA operating you won't get any SDV channels on your system.

Don't know why you have issues with 8.1 vs 7. Did you do a full install on 8.1 with the latest beta Ceton driver and run the DCA on 8.1 and then do tv set-up? Make sure that 8.1 thinks its a cableCARD tuner and set-up for cableCARD and not just trying to get clearQAM. The shut down after a few seconds is indicative of a permissions issue between the tuner and windows.

Check the web gui when you're running 8.1 and make sure that all the tuners show WMDRM pairing as GREEN. You might find you need to power cycle or reboot the eth when you go to 8.1 from 7 to release pairing and reset it. BTW you can reboot from the web gui (although I don't know if this is supported by Ceton or not) in the web gui right click on "LOG" and open in new tab, then in the command box at the bottom type "reboot" (without quotes) and click send. After two or three minutes (mine is that slow on reboot) you should be able to check the tuner pairing.

I have a little HTML file that will let you open a browser window and check the tuner for pairing, temps, tuning and copy protection. I can't attach it so you'll have to cut this out and save it in notepad and name it with a HTML extension. (You'll have to do a search and replace to remove my unit IP address of 192.168.0.32 and replace it with your units IP address).

Thanks for the reply. The ceton diagnostic screen never showed the TA as initialized. It shows as disabled. It was a clean install and configured as cablecard. This was on windows 8, 8.1 and 7. Everything was powered down between changing OS.

I did plug and unplug the usb without success at your suggestion.

There was an issue that was addressed in FW, but that was several months ago. What FW are you running? .142 or .177?

If the TA shows as disabled then it is either the TA or FW in the tuner. Also it might be as I suggested a pairing issue with your cable provider. This I've only heard about with Moto cards and Moto headends. You'll probably need either the s/n or mac address of the TA when you call them.

Found the new firmware. No change. Does the TA have to be paired with a cable card?

One some Motorola systems it does need to be paired by the cable company. They will pair the cableCARD serial number with the TA serial number.

No, it does not. The TA must be provisioned for use on the provider's network, but there is not static pairing with the CableCARD
