ETH6 just freaked out
Three recordings in progress and watching live Tv on HTPC. Tried to change channels and got a "no tv signal" message no matter how many channels I tried. But if I tuned to one of the three channels with recordings in progress could get picture/sound. Tried shutting down WMC, no change.
I looked at the Ceton diagnostic page and saw that signal level on Tuners 1-4 were normal (like -1.8.0 to 0.5 dBmV), but Tuner 5 was -48.9 dBmV and Tuner 6 was -50.7 dBmV Impossible right?
Rebooted the HTPC, no change. Signal levels still whack, could not tune any channels.
Finally, rebooted the ETH6 which seemed to clear the problem.

That simply means the tuners weren't tuned. Signal levels are per-channel (well, technically per-QAM)tzr916 wrote:I looked at the Ceton diagnostic page and saw that signal level on Tuners 1-4 were normal (like -1.8.0 to 0.5 dBmV), but Tuner 5 was -48.9 dBmV and Tuner 6 was -50.7 dBmV Impossible right?

When the tuners are not tuned they report:
Not Tuned- Signal Level
Not Tuned- SNR
Stopped- Playback
0- Frequency
None- Copy Protection
0- Channel
In this case, Tuners 5 & 6 were showing as tuned to channels with full info, just the Signal Level was whack.

Either your channel map is wrong, or there are no QAMs at the channels that were tuned (either plant maintenance or you have an RF issue)tzr916 wrote:When the tuners are not tuned they report:

Isn't 55-57°C a little too hot?
I could have sworn that mine are showing 37-39°C when in use for a period of time.
57°C is 134.6°F, hot water tap territory.

Ceton says that anything up to 60C (or was it 65?) is OK. And, if your tap water is 134.6F, you need to adjust your thermostat. That's too hot for domestic hot water. It should be 120F at the tap.blueiedgod wrote:Isn't 55-57°C a little too hot?

23 whole days without incident and ETH6 just freaked out again. Been recording shows fine until 3:48AM this morning when WMC got a Partial Recording Error on Tuner 1 due to "manually stopped for use by another component". No other recording, tuners, extenders in use so don't know how this happened. Of course, the next scheduled recording at 5AM failed six times due to "the tuner is not working or is not installed".
I tried to get to the Ceton Diag webpage but my browser could not find it. So I ended up reboot the PC & Tuner.... again.

Sounds like similar to what was happening to me with usb 4 tuner model, it cleared up before I could spend the time it needed, but rebooting the tuner weekly kept it at bay for 3 weeks while I worked on other things; then it just didn't do it again.......that was a year or so ago, though. In the end I thought it might be temp related, but mine were lower than 60C........?

So far so good. One month without tuner lockup/reboot.
I think figured out why this happened- I had attempted to tune to channel 166 FEARnet which is labelled as a VOD channel. I don't want to attempt retuning the channel (in fear of locking up my ETH6 again). Does a VOD channel try and send some kind of two way signal that the ETH6 can't handle?
