Netflix plugin missing time / progress bar WMC7

#1

Post by sfvosbury » Sat Jul 20, 2013 1:25 am

Hey Guys,

Randomly last week I lost my Netflix time / progress bar in WMC7. You know, the one that's usually at the bottom of the screen and tells you exactly how far into the movie you are? I tried reinstalling the Netflix plugin to no avail. I called Netflix and they suggested reinstalling WMC.

I tried, but all I was able to do was disable WMC, reboot, and then reenable it. When I reenabled, all my settings came back, so I doubt that helped.

Has any one had this happen before? As it stands right now, the only way I can control Netflix from inside a streaming video is with my Remote. Theres no buttons or anything to click on other than the WMC green button logo and back button.

Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks!
Scott

My Netflix progress bar only shows when I pause the movie. Is that what you're talking about?

Yeah, this just happened a few days ago and people reported the same thing at AVS Forum. The progress bar and play controls are all gone. Until the problem gets fixed, you can use keyboard shortcuts like Ctrl+P to start/stop, Ctrl+F to fast-forward, and Ctrl+B to go back.

That's correct. It'll show up when you pause, or move your mouse around on the screen.

barnabas1969 - Is it still showing up properly for you?

I don't use the mouse, but it does show when I press pause on the remote. It doesn't show when I press play (like it does when watching recorded/live TV), but I don't know if it's supposed to show up in Netflix when I press play... I never noticed before. Fast forward, rewind, and skip all work as normal.

Yes, used to be you got the progress bar when you move the mouse, it's gone now. Noticed it this past weekend.

Fast forward is still as terrible as ever. Skip works much better.

I think FFWD and RWD are much better in the Media Center app than it is in any of my Bluray players. Skip is an awesome way to move around in the movie.

No on-screen controls anymore, period. Not during pause, not during ff/rew, nothing.

It's like an aging human being. Functionality disappears as the plugin ages.

My Netflix progress bar is missing also. My wireless keyboard has a touchpad and when you move the cursor, it used to display the stop, pause, forward, reverse buttons up until last week or so. It no longer shows the bottom buttons and progress bar when you move the cursor. It does display the back button, the start button, and the minimize, maximize and close buttons at the top. This is the first forum I found on my quick search, so I now know about the ctrl-p, ctrl-f and ctrl-b buttons, thank you. It is weird that this happened to all of us at pretty much the same time. There must have been some kind of Windows update that messed it up.

Fast Forward and Rewind in the Netflix App work differently than WMC. WMC has nice seeking features, but the Netflix way is terrible.

Skip works great though.

The control isn't being updated. Any changes that are happening are happening on the Netflix servers. Whatever API's the controls were using must have been changed at the Netflix end.

Yeah, I was comparing the Media Center Netflix app to my Bluray players. I understand that the Netflix app works differently than when you view live/recorded TV or local media files.

I am having the same problem. Interesting that the on screen controls work just fine while watching recorded TV.

Confirmed... me too. It just started a week or so ago.

Annoying.

Same problem here - started about two weeks ago, so not related to the new "profiles" NetFlix update. I've lost ALL player controls while NetFlix is running - my only recourse is to back-arrow WMC to the main NetFlix screen (which postage-stamps the running video) where on-screen controls are visible.

Another "me too" on this problem. It started in mid-late July on all three of my WMC systems (all Win7). I noticed that Silverlight was updated to Build 5.1.20513.0 just prior to noticing the problem.
I found and re-installed the previous version, Build 5.1.20125.0, but it didn't fix it. It's possible that the 20513 build changed some system-level registry/policy setting and that's why the problem has persisted through the re-install.

My next step is to reload Win7 and do a fresh install with build 20125 and see if that works, but I'm not sure when I'll actually get to that. This problem really degrades the usability of the plugin.

Same problem here. Is this a Netflix of Microsoft fix?

FINALLY!!!

After patiently waiting 6 weeks for a fix, this morning I noticed the on screen progress bar and the transport controls were back.

Sweet Relief...

Hopefully everyone is noticing the same.
