Disabling The Default Remote-to-Application Mapping

I am attempting to use VLC as an external player in MediaBrowser for video playback. Using EventGhost, I have successfully mapped several functions from the Media Center remote to VLC including a very nice function that allows you to adjust the audio sync in real time.

However, some functions, most notably Rewind and Skip, somehow get through to VLC without an EventGhost mapping. Even when these keys are remapped in EventGhost their original functionality remains.

Question: How can I disable the default mapping between the Media Center remote and VLC?
