Echo weirdness - Recovering

#1

Post by mldenison » Thu May 23, 2013 3:49 pm

My Echo has been doing OK for quite some time.

This morning, when I turned it on, it displayed 'Recovering'. From what, I don't know.

After some time (5 minutes or so), it rebooted and displayed the xxxx-xxxx code for WMC. It also said there was an update available which I installed (2013.304.1657).

I re-paired it and everything seems to be back to normal.

I checked the web interface and found it was not set to the beta channel. There is a 2013.320.1349 update.

Should I install it? This was the update I was running before the issue.

That is the latest "stable" f/w AFAIK.

I would not install .1349 (I thought that beta was pulled?) because multiple users had many problems with stability, sync and other issues.

I have been experiencing a few issues with 1657 as well such as freezing and restarting. Usually not more often than 36 hour intervals but since the update is so old I haven't bothered them with tickets on it. It's almost 3 months since we've had any update on the Echo.......

That is why stable is in quotes. I too have random reboots, often triggered by button presses on the remote and first thing in the morning it is frozen and I have to reboot it each time but maybe that is an HDCP issue with turning the connected TV off but leaving the echo on.

I've had the Echo off and the HTPC in sleep mode. Turning on the Echo brings the HTPC out of sleep. It had been working fine.
