Portable Bluetooth Speaker Recommendations

#1

Post by erkotz » Sat May 18, 2013 10:20 pm

I've been looking for a portable Bluetooth (A2DP - music) speaker and am curious what people have and what they like. I bought a Jabra Solemate today at Costco, but I'm not sure it's really what I'm looking for. For it's size, the audio quality is great - but it's still not quite where I would like it. I'd also like it to go a bit louder.

Something like the Nokia/JBL PowerUp would be perfect, except it doesn't have batteries.

Essentially, here's what I'm looking for:

Must have:
A2DP Bluetooth
3.5mm in
The ability to run off Batteries for a minimum of 4 hours
Relatively loud (louder is better, should be usable outside)
Good audio quality

Niceities:
Ability to charge phone
6+ hours of battery life
Ability to control phone (skip songs, etc)
Better audio quality

I kickstarted this project: http://store.boombotix.com/collections/ ... ctic-white

I get mine this week. They are apparently so good that apple certified them to be carried in their store.

here was their kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/boo ... le-speaker
I guess I got lucky I only pledged $75 which is pretty great. They changed their retail from $99 to $125 it looks like though.

Interesting. Looks decent, but at only 3 watts I doubt it's any louder than the one I bought already.

They rate it at: 90 dB@2ft

They do a pretty good breakdown here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/boo ... sts/368936

I did get them in last friday and it is pretty crazy loud and integrates really well with my phone as well.

When you are in the office next time I will ensure I bring it in.
