All of a Sudden, 2 InfiniTV4's not supported...
So today I'm watching TV, get an error pop-up that something couldn't be recorded, because there were no free tuners, sigh.....restart HTPC.
Get back into Media Center on my primary extender (Xbox 360) see Recorded TV and "Setup TV" no guide, no live TV options....
Restart PC, no change.
Shut down PC, unplug power. No Change.
Set up TV again.
only 4 CableCard Tuners found + 2 OTA tuners from HD HomeRun. I click on details, see "An additional 4 CableCard tuners were found, but your OS only allows 4 per tuner type....." or something like that.....
What happened?
Have been using 2 InfiniTV 4s and the HD HomeRun for 10 total tuners NO PROBLEM until today.
Ceton Diagnostics shows both tuners.....

What Drivers are you using? Stable or BETA release? Please Post Version as well as
What Firmware you're on for each InfiniTV.

This seems to happen every once in a while with several possible causes. It is not unique to a mixed environment (HDHR and Ceton) since it can happen to Ceton only setups, mixed setups, or HDHR only setups. Since you have Ceton cards, reinstall the driver setup again, it will repair the setting needed to enable the additional tuners. You will need to rerun TV setup again. If you were an HDHR only setup then you would need to rerun TunerSalad to reset the count limit.
Some of the possible causes that may reset the setting:
- sfc /scannow
- resetting WMC
- Antivirus "fixing" a file it thinks was modified inappropriately
- MS Updates

I have since tried the following:
1. Simply reinstalling the Ceton Drivers: Same result - both cards found, only 1 InfiniTV allowed.
2. Upgrading the cards based on the new Ceton Diagnostics Tool Version
Now Have:
Card 1:
Driver Package Version: 12.12.26.1250
PCIe Driver Version: 1.0.2.4
InfiniTV Firmware Version: 1.1.8.2
InfiniTV Hardware Version: 6289
Card 2:
Driver Package Version: 12.12.26.1250
PCIe Driver Version: 1.0.2.4
InfiniTV Firmware Version: 1.2.2.6
InfiniTV Hardware Version: 6212
After the firmware upgrade for Card 1, I tried setting up TV again - same result.
I then uninstalled the Ceton Drivers and reinstalled. - Same result.

Did you try clearing the tuner configuration and then rediscovering the tuners from within the ceton diagnostic utility? I would try that and then run through live tv setup again now that you have updated drivers and firmware.

No, that did not work.
I've opened a ticket as well.
I was told to uninstall, restart, re-install, - same result.....
There have been no Windows Updates applied recently.

You could try running Tuner Salad, to see if it works.

+1.. That is an option you could try. I have see others post that for some reason or another that the ceton driver wouldn't remove the tuner limit and that using Tunersalad was the only way they could get more tuners to work. It's worth a shot. Funny though that it was working for you , but now is not.. could be faulty hardware/software..??sccrgoalie1 wrote:You could try running Tuner Salad, to see if it works.
I would still follow through with your ticket to Ceton though in case the drivers need tweaked.. or if they may have a beta firmware for you to try. Their support is usually very good.

Could you have a "new" ip address conflict? Go to Network & Sharing and then on the left click on change adapter settings. See if you have a network card and TWO ceton cards. If you do have a network issue and can only see one card, try going to the web gui for the card you can see which should be 192.168.200.1 and on the system tab go down to network settings and give it a new IP address outside the real of your local home network and other card. Reboot and see if you can see two cards. You haven't changed a router or router settings perchance?Prindle19 wrote:No, that did not work.

If you have network on your desktop, the ceton turners, extenders, etc will all display under media devices and if you right click on the ceton you should be able to view device web page. If you have both cards with the same address that might be your problem.

When I decide to clear off my HTPC & do a fresh Windows install, I tend to have it tell me it can find all 8 tuners & there are other times where it found all 8, but will only setup 4.
Save the headache & get tunersalad.

Installing the latest beta drivers does appear to have fixed the issue. Now 8 tuners are available in WMC.
