Setup problems on Surface Pro tablet

#1

Post by kjy1989 » Sun Mar 31, 2013 1:56 am

I have installed the "my media center" on my surface pro but it can't work. It can not scan any computers in my network and required me to add a computer manually. For adding a new computer, it required me to provide the internal/external IP, internal/external port and also my mac address, the problem is I don't know how to get these information. Can anyone please tell me how to set this up?

You only need to enter your internal IP and Port (it is not necessary to enter the other info unless you need remote access or want to do wake on lan).

To find these settings all you need to do is open up the "my media center config" which is what you installed on your PC and then open it up and go to Advanced->Network and you will see the info.

Thank you, but where can I find the page you posted? I installed the Win 8 version and when I click the my media center icon, I can only see the page I showed at top.

You have to run the My Media Center service on your Media Center PC.

Download the service (it's free) from http://cetoncorp.com/products/companion/ and install the appropriate version.
