File conversion?

#1

Post by joshmsab » Wed Mar 20, 2013 9:59 pm

I was looking for a program that will automatically make a copy of shows, convert them into a different format, and move them to a private cloud server so I can watch recordings while I travel. Either via stream or download. Any programs or methods would be awesome.

I have MCEBuddy installed, and it can do the job--but whenever I use it (admittedly, very infrequently), it won't run the file even though MCEBuddy is running. I have to stop it and restart it, and then it immediately sees the file in the hotfolder.

FYI.

Were I doing this in a production sense I'd copy the .wtv files off to a big honkin' server with lots of horsepower and let things chew on that hardware. The conversion takes awhile on my i3 3.2.

I haven't tried either of those programs. Which would y'all say is the most reliable and easy to use?

I think both are reliable. Dvrmstoolbox has a ton of features but it is definitely much more complicated to use.

Not tried MCE Buddy and not used DVR-MS Toolbox for years now, but it certainly wasn't easy to use when I did last use it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'll give them a try.
