Xbox 360 MCE & unauthorized window error

#1

Post by DreilingStL » Wed Mar 20, 2013 4:05 pm

I have gotten next to nowhere on this issue and really need some help. Setup info below, but essentially I am unable to sustain a connection between my MCE and Media Center PC for more than a minute or two before being disconnected. Windows Event Viewer logs are also below. I can tell you that its NOT from security and/or fingerprint software, having removed both for diagnostic purposes. Based on my research and the event logs, it appears to be an issue with how the Xbox's remote session handles Windows 8 notifications (specifically, the popup or "toast" notifications). I can't say that this is the issue for sure, though, and I have no way of disabling notifications for the MCX account to confirm. PLEASE HELP!!!

Create a new, ordinary user on the Windows 8 machine, and log in to the Windows machine with that new user account. Do you see any Popups from 3rd party applications that might also be popping up in the Extender user session, and causing the problem? If you do, try uninstalling the application that's generating the popups, or figure out how they are being triggered.

Figured it out, thanks! Turns out Lenovo's on-screen hotkey notifications were the culprit (num lock, caps lock, etc.).
