Split FiOS signal from wall connection?

#1

Post by dogfetch » Fri Feb 22, 2013 2:58 am

So I recently took the plunge in getting a ceton infintTV so I can mainly archive HD tv shows. I have Verizon fios. can I split the cable coming out of my wall (which is currently connected to my fios router and my pc) using a coax cable splitter so that one end goes to my fios router and the other to the ceton? I don't really have another dedicated tv cable near my pc. thanks for any response...

Usually.

If there are many splits in the line you might have signal issues. But if the line is coming directly from your ONT (the Verizon box that converts from fiber to coax) there shouldn't be a signal level issue even with mediocre wiring. The ONT puts out a fairly high level signal that can be split quite a few times with good wiring.

It's possible that you may have issues with MOCA interference on some stations (did they correct this on the later board revision?).
