UK Freesat HD & dma2100 extender
I have a basic Windows 7 media center setup with TBS6981 DVB-S2 card, not running any bells or whistles software or codec packs etc. Recently got hold of a linksys 2100 and had a quick test, connected it over wireless and freesat HD channels would not play (something about unable to play this type of video). Admittedly my wireless is shocking (still on 'G' though I do have an 'N' router that I can put in) but before I go changing it I thought I'd check that the dma2100 would play dvb-s/s2 HD content.

Sorry, the DMA extenders don't do h.264 live, or recorded tv (Which is what the HD channels use). They handle h.264 in other formats though! (.mp4 etc).

The Xbox is the only extender that will play h.264 live/recorded tv.

Oh, right, that's good then. I've not paid any attention to the Echo at all. I see it as a US thing and know I'm not getting one.

That's one of the things that frustrates me about Cisco/Linksys and their lack of support of the DMA extenders. The hardware can cope with h.264, it's just a bug in their handling of .wtv containers that causes the problem.
If I was living in Europe, I'd strongly look at a script to convert those .wtv files to .mp4 (container swap, not trans code) and then use Media Browser or some other front end to manage them, which should work on the DMA extenders.

I was lucky enough to get on the beta and I really love my Echo.
There's still a lot for Ceton to do, but we use ours in the bedroom everyday for TV and movie playback, music at the weekends etc and it never misses a beat. (he says while knocking on wood frantically!)

Hmmm... I know that Ceton shipped a few beta units to people in the UK. Haven't they released it there yet?
I'm returning mine to Ceton tomorrow, unless someone would like to buy it from me. Of course, you have to pay the shipping to the UK (and whatever taxes and import duties will be due).
