Unable to get WMC key :(

#1

Post by Motz » Wed Jan 30, 2013 8:30 pm

I tried to get a WMC Key last night from http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... ture-packs

Every time I try it just says "experienced an issue" or something. Is this happening to anyone else? I then tried to just buy it via add features and my Win 8 told me I am not allowed to buy keys online...

I'll sell you mine? ;)

Seriously though, wasn't the web offer expiring in a day? Perhaps the webdevs struck early...

yeah it is super odd i used staknhalo's code and it told me it was already in use. I paid for the W7 to W8 upgrade. Then I used the WMC code they sent me, however I guess I already used the code on another PC here at work. So originally it activated fine, but then last night it was all like hey go activate because it is already in use... so weird.

Cool. The first one should have worked though. As stated above, only 2 other codes of mine are in use and neither of them were that. I kinda expected this to happen though, that's why I stockpiled them in the first place :P

If you use a mouse and keyboard at your HTPC, I say go for it. If you use strictly a remote and go for the STB experience, you're gonna have a bad time. Plus make sure all your WMC plugins work beforehand. Most do but for example I have 1 vital one that doesn't and just solidified my decision to keep the HTPC on 7.

Edit: actually it sounds like you made up your mind and are just deciding to do it in 1 night or not....good luck :P

I wouldn't sweat the "free" WMC - it'll only cost a tenner to get later, so it's not worth rushing things at this late stage.

The $40 Win8 upgrade, though, is a good deal, compared to how much it'll cost on Friday.

But anything legitly free always feels better than when you have to pay for it. It's science.
