Computer slow to wake
I'm having an issue with my computer taking too long to wake up, hopefully there is a solution. My setup is an HP Pavilion Elite e9240f (specs found here**wrong url**). I have an InfiniTV (pcie) and Avermedia Duet installed (also have an SSD for the OS). The computer is up in an "office" and I use and xbox on the main TV as an extender. When I turn the xbox on, it tries to connect to the media center but eventually fails. If I wait a little bit and try to connect again it works just fine. The problem is the computer is too slow to wake for the xbox to connect on the first try.....at least I assume that is the problem. Both are wired to a linksys e1000 router running dd-wrt firmware. I have gone to the Realtek site and updated to the latest drivers for my onboard gigabit LAN. The computer properly goes to sleep when its supposed to. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also, I have tried to leave the computer in "away mode" but never got that to work. I've heard you have to enable it in the BIOS, but I never found any setting that looked like it was related to that.

It sounds like your PC is hibernating, rather than sleeping. Returning from Hibernation takes almost as long as booting up does.

I'll be sure to look into that when I get home today, thanks for the suggestion.

To disable hibernate, should I do so in the power configuration (I'm using MST) or should I use the command of powercfg -h off from a cmd prompt? Seems to me like the cmd prompt is the way to go but figured I would ask before I get home and do it.

Run powercfg -h off from an elevated command prompt.

You can also control panel>power options>hybrid sleep=no
>hibernate=never
>hibernate=never

That doesn't actually disable hibernation. All that does is change the timeout to never, which might sound like the same thing, but it's not. Disabling hibernation means the system absolutely cannot enter hibernation. It also means the system can use Away mode. Setting the hibernate timeout to never does not prevent you from manually putting the computer into hibernation, nor does it allow you to use Away mode.
