How long does this update take to install? I started mine about 10 min ago and the progress bar is stalled about 5% across the bar.

Mine didn't take long, well, no longer than the rest. Maybe a couple minutes. Are you updating through the webpage or through Extra's?

I updated through extras plugin app; It was still stalled after 30 minutes and I had to leave home for work. I left everything as is and have submitted a support ticket on the assumption that it ain't gonna recover!

I'm starting to think the ceton servers are giving everyone a headache with this download stalls...

Got a reply from Ceton support; they want me to try the recovery operation. I will report back on how it goes later tonight.

OK, here is what happened. I followed instructions for recovery and nothing happened; i.e. the Ceton did not turn on after typing in "recovery". I then turned the Echo on and it proceeded to boot and as far as I can tell is fine with the older firmware. I then went into the webpage and started the install from there. It appeared to update the firmware this time and rebooted. The splash screen showed the updated firmware and it also showed as being updated in the "About" menu of the settings plugin. However, the webpage said the firmware update failed. If I go to "settings" menu on the webpage it shows the updated firmware 2012.1219.1030 but if I click "updates" it checks for updates and displays 2012.1219.1030. The plugin says no updates available.

Still a little buggy, at least in my hands.

edit: I rebooted the Echo one more time and now the Echo webpage correctly states no updates available.

If it doesn't turn on after typing "recovery" you have made a mistake typing it in. type "0" 10 times in a row, then try again.

Every time I typed it in correctly, mine lit up. There was a couple times when I miss-typed it, that nothing happened.

Thanks Crash, I will remember that if I ever need to do it. Moot point now since my Echo recovered on its own after having stalled during first attempted firmware update. The update worked the second time I tried and all is well, except for the HDCP bug that still seems to be present.

The latest 12 19 firmware has the espn / CNN ticker stutter. The version prior to this one worked fine.

How do you have the Echo video output set? and what is the native resolution of your display?

When I was on the 2012.1213.1022 with plug-in set to 720 was the best for me (no complaints)

It was so good, I missed out on 2012.1214.????

Now I am on this 2012.1219.1030, with the plug-in set to 720, I get a few problems such as: HDCP errors watching protected channels such as 319 Cinemax. The combing is back on channels 2,3,4. I just changed my plug-in to "Native" and at first glance this has corrected the few little problems I had. Gonna try Native for a couple days and wait and see.

For me, I have noticed the settings of the plug-in can create a large effect on the quality of the visual.

Crash, would you mind testing how your Echo behaves when turning off and then back on your set while Echo is in native output (both protected and unprotected content)? This is the output I am in with my HDCP issues. I tested today with the Echo in 720p output and everything seemed to work well for both protected and unprotected content. i.e. the Echo did not reboot; the video just resumed as normal. This may be why you did not see my issues if you tested while your Echo was set to 720p.

Same results as when I tested for you last time.

Off then On again goes right back to channel 319 and plays normal.

2nd Off then On again HDCP Error

Not going to try a 3rd time during the Last Day of the World. Maybe tomorrow, if there is one. :wtf:

Hmmm, there was a security update waiting for me at my desktop. Restart now!

The world didn't end. I made it back.

So there you have it, for me off/on off/on causes HDCP error. Dual monitor setup one HDMI, one VGA.

Thanks for doing that. :) I have a ticket running with Ceton and they asked for a diagnostic sent after seeing the bad behavior. Have not heard back yet.

The latest firmware (1219.1030) is working "fairly" well on most shows I've watched. FOX seems to still give it problems. Pronounced stuttering on panning scenes. I haven't tried watching football on it. THAT would be painful if the panning is as jerky as it is in recorded shows.
