[WAS OMEGA] Now 2012.1213.1022 FW - Interlacing fixes

#1

Post by STC » Thu Dec 13, 2012 12:15 am

Early days, I have been testing for fifteen minutes, but so far four different known stutter 1080i material shows I have play smooth as ice.

This is great news! Thanks Ceton! ;)

I will post some more after a longer play.

More

With this build, on my TV the Echo is set to 1080p and is unchangeable.

1080i TV is solid
720p seems to be solid too - I saw one blip but that may have been some other problem.
480 still to test

^^ Lol.

Unfortunately a lot of my channel selection is still 480, I'd say I watch 50/50 SD/HD right now.

This is a pre-beta channel.
If you dont mind the possibility of big bugs you can ask to be put on the list over at the Ceton Beta Forum.

Otherwise it shouldnt be too long before you see the release.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding- I thought I saw in the beta forum that in this build you could also select 'native' to let your tv do the decoding...are you saying this is not an option on your echo right now? I'd just be curious on the picture quality difference when outputting 1080p versus 'native'.

Yes, I have just been playing.
Accompanying the FW update was a settings update from the web (manual download - Echo reported no updates).
After installing the update I could change video resolutions.
So far I get the best quality from 1080p fixed.
There appear to be some nice big bugs still to sort with native mode as on my rig it plays 480i as 720p with a lot of artifacts.

They are getting there though!

Thank god. Football was almost unwatchable. Good thing the Patriots slapped around Houston. That made up for it somewhat.

Where do we find this update? Or is it only available to a few until fully tested?

Omega builds sit in between alpha and beta. Limited to select beta users subset. These builds have already passed dev and internal alpha but we like to do a more wide ranged before pushing to beta.

Too bad I can't register on the Ceton forum to help test the omega build. The Ceton forms are closed for registration. Guess I missed out on that band wagon.

The ceton forums are for users that were in the pre-release beta program, every person was manually accepted. Don't worry though the releases are usually only in Omega for a short time, just need to make sure we didn't break anything. So far this release is looking pretty great :)

Speaking of moving past Omega quickly, we just pushed this out to beta :)

it is a new build with some upgrade fixes for different tvs which we discovered in omega, but the core fixes are the same.
