I like the Echo. It needs work though. Lots.
My experience with it has been mixed. I was hoping for a bit more. I think it may have been a better choice IMO if Ceton would have held back on it's release until a lot of the bugs had been fixed.

I think this quote from the review says a lot:
"The almost year-long wait for the Echo has left us disappointed and also, surprised. We're surprised that Ceton didn't hold the product until a bug that prevented perfect 1080i playback was fixed."

It's pretty much unusable at my house still. it's laggy and playback is a judder mess. I keep updating it hoping that some progress is being made. I know that Ceton wants to add Android to it but I think they need to get the Extender part fixed first. The whole project seems rushed to market to me and it may damage their reputation and I would hate to see that happen as I like the company and it's products. I have no doubt they will get it fixed, I just think it should have been fixed prior to launch, but that's just my opinion and that doesn't much matter.

@newfiend: Curt, you are just about the ultimate Ceton fan boy. Your opinion means a lot. You sound as disappointed as I am. The Engadget review (and the comments!) don't sound very good. This could be a crash and burn for Ceton unless they fix it quickly.

TBH, the 1080i problem isn't a deal killer for me. I don't think it's all that bad in my bedroom on a fairly small screen (32") at a fairly long viewing distance (12'), but it does need to be fixed. I believe Ceton will fix it soon, but I'm wondering if they may have made a very big mistake by releasing it when they did. The average consumer will not tolerate this... and they'll remember the name "Ceton" (with negativity) for a long time.

I hope Ceton has success with this, but so far... it doesn't look good.

If they fix it, I'll buy three more (from those of you who want to get rid of them cheap!).

It's been around since 12/06/2012 (hence the "2012.1206" in the version string).

EDIT: Apologize in advance for my sarcasm. Jack Daniels made me do it.

Dumb question. 2012.1211.1243(austin) is the new one. Anybody get it yet?
