So is the 2 year manufacturer's warranty only good for purchases before 1/1/13 too? Or does that only apply to the return policy?
Edit: It's both if I'm not mistaken.

Both the extended return and extended warranty periods apply to any Echo purchase made before Jan 1, 2013, including of course any beta purchases.

This sounds great. Please add Windows 8 support ASAP so I can take advantage of this and put a few through their paces.

So long as you get the frame rate issue fixed, I have no intention of returning. Too much upside.

Thanks Ed,
I appreciate the extentions. This should calm things down a lot. Also this will give your staff a little breathing room to do what they do best.

Thanks Ceton. I had already decided to keep mine, and the extra year warranty is very much appreciated. I have no doubt you guys will make these little boxes shine.

Very nice. That's how you stand behind a product.

I really want to buy 3 of these while I still can get the extended warranty, however, required features for me are Windows 8 and DTS audio support. I know these are in the "plan" but I don't want to abuse the return policy by buying multiple units just to return them if these features won't be available within the return policy window (or never will be available). I don't suppose you could give us any more "definitive" word on this? Thanks.

Well I guess you guys have 90days to get these things working decent. Although with what I've seen so far I'll likely return both of mine next week.

I have whatever they updated to when o first hooked them upSTC wrote:^ Do you have the latest beta installed 4x4? It pretty much fixes the interlacing problems.
I could live with the jitter, not so sure about the skipping, but the lock ups(on one-it's pretty much unusable) reboots(on the other) just isn't going to cut it.
Ceton's support has been a joke since day 1 & I don't want to have to have the frustration of dealing with them again. So I'll probably just put the HTPC & DMA2200 these were suppose to replace back online & send Tue Echoes back.

All the things you mention are pretty much sorted now.
Seriously, install the latest beta and try again, you won't regret it. This requires a bit a manual intervention from you: You have to tell the Echo you want to download the 'beta' as opposed to 'stable' which it defaults to.
Make sure you are running the latest Echo settings on the HTPC http://cetoncorp.com/product-support/ Install this app with the Echo turned off.
Turn on Echo, go into Settings and set to beta in About. Exit out of Settings, wait about five mins, then go back in, select your current FW and check for updates.
Then download/install the latest - 2012.1213.1022.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot, however the one that locks up is going to be tough as it locks up faster if you start touching the remote. It took me about 1hr just to get the settings set on it yesterday.

Well I got the beta installed on the better working echo, the cheat of outputting the streams native Res so the echo doesn't have to do as much work is a bit of a wash on my native Res 1080p TV. In the short time I've tested the skipping still happens every couple of min but seems to be not as bad or at least it hasn't happened during dialog so I had hit the skip back on the remote yet to hear what I missed. 720p streams look better but 1080i are worse. It's also annoying having the screen go blank every time I start playing a new stream that's a different Res than the previous. If I can't set to the TV's native Res like I did with my HTPC & DMA2200 I don't think I'll be wanting to keep it & that's just assuming I can get the other one to be usable.
As for the other echo, I can even get beta checked in settings so unless there's a way to push it instead of pulling it's not looking good to see if the firmware will help.
